What is Lagunbot?
Lagunbot IA is an artificial intelligence company from the Basque Country that designs bilingual Basque-Spanish chatbots, voice agents and automations for town councils and businesses, and develops Lagunbot Presupuestos, our automatic quoting system for aluminium and PVC window and door fabricators. It is a Gipuzkoa company born at Mondragon Unibertsitatea. You can meet the team on the about us page.
Do you only work with Basque companies?
We focus on the Basque Country, but we work with companies all over Spain. What sets us apart is our local knowledge and the Basque language. The initial assessment is done by video call, so distance is no obstacle to working together.
What is an AI voice agent?
An AI voice agent answers phone calls automatically, understands natural language in Basque and Spanish and handles enquiries without human intervention, at any time. In a town council, for example, it can resolve basic enquiries and keep the lines free for cases that need a person's attention.
Basque and channels
Does the chatbot speak Basque?
Yes. Our chatbots speak Basque natively, not through machine translation. We design each agent in Basque from the start, with answers adapted to the local context of the Basque Country. Before publishing it, we test it in Basque and in Spanish so that it answers well in both languages.
Which channels does it work on?
On the web, on WhatsApp and on the phone, with a voice agent. Each project uses the channels it needs: a town council usually starts with its website, and a business that receives lots of enquiries on WhatsApp can answer them there. The assistant answers with the same criteria on every channel.

Town councils
What is a council chatbot?
It is a virtual assistant on the council website that answers residents' questions about procedures, opening hours, services and council events, at any time. Lagunbot's assistants answer in Basque and Spanish. The chatbot resolves repetitive enquiries and council staff gain time for what needs personal attention. More details in chatbot for town councils.
How much does a chatbot for a town council cost?
It depends on the scope: channels, languages, content and volume of enquiries. Every project is quoted individually after a free assessment with the council team. Public contracts are also open data: each public authority publishes its own on its contractor profile.
How does a public authority contract it?
Through the procedures set out in public procurement rules: a minor contract or a tender, depending on the case. Beforehand, in the free assessment, we define with the council what the assistant should answer, on which channels and with what information. You can see examples in our case studies.
Data and how it works
What happens to the data?
We process personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Some of the technology providers we use are outside the European Economic Area; in those cases the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission apply. Where does the assistant get its information from?
From a knowledge base that we prepare with your organisation's information: the website, documents, opening hours, FAQs. When something changes, such as an opening time, a procedure or an event, that knowledge base is updated without rebuilding the assistant. In addition, every month we review what people ask so we can adjust the content.

Does Lagunbot produce automatic quotes?
Yes, for aluminium and PVC window and door fabricators, with Lagunbot Presupuestos. It handles every request on the web or on WhatsApp, works out an estimated range with the company's own rates, sends the PDF to the customer and sorts requests by priority.
